multitasking extraordinaire

Since I've been home by myself, I have come up with some ingenious ways of keeping all the children occupied so I can get things done.

For instance, by putting our triplets in the shower, and Henry in his bouncy chair - positioned where he could see the triplets in the shower, I was able to clean the entire bathroom and fold three loads of laundry while the kids played.

While sitting on the edge of the tub, I wrote several thank you notes for various gifts Henry has received, responded to a few e-mails on my laptop, downloaded a couple new recipes we'll be trying out soon, and started my online Christmas shopping.

I then pumped a few squirts of shampoo over the side of the shower, handed the children their toothbrushes, and was able to get them completely ready for bed.

If only we had a stove in the bathroom, I would have cooked dinner, too.

  3. How about getting a plastic sheet for the bouncy chair and putting Henry in also? Who taught you to be a Multi-tasker?

  7. Brilliant idea. I'm going to steal it.

And ha! Your stove comment makes me think of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer prepares food in the shower to save time. But then he realized he needed a garbage disposal in the shower...

  8. Hi, I don't know if you have the time to read all the comments on your blog but I just wanted to thank you so much for your posts. You are my lifeline! I live in South Carolina (Greenville). I am a 30-year-old Mom of four little girls (10,8,6,3) plus I babysit four of my neices/nephews during the day (2, 20 mon, 18 mon, 10 mon)and sometimes I feel like I'm going to go crazy. You make motherhood special with your writing. You treasure your children even when they are driving you crazy. Sometimes I feel like I'm at the end of my rope and your blog keeps me going. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

    Sincerely,
    Rachel

  10. GREAT IDEA! I tried putting Edward (age 2) in the shower this morning with his brother (age 8)--but Edward screamed and screamed, just like his brother did when HE was 2. Still, I can put the twins in the tub and get the sink and toilet cleaned. Or sit there glazing off into space, whatever.

  11. I agree, bath-time is one of the best times to tidy up the bathroom.

I give the bathroom a quick clean while my older daughter brushes her teeth before bed. While singing to her or counting to 20 while she brushes each side or up or down...if we Mums didn't multi task, I don't know what we would do.
