not unlike a hanging chad

I probably should have given more detailed instructions on voting the other day when I posted our top 10 finalists. But in the past day, I've received a lot of e-mails requesting that I please cast an additional vote for someone, which I cannot do.

Because I can't vote any more than any one else (once, per computer or per internet search engine i.e., Explorer, Fire Fox, Safari, etc) (hint, hint), I figured with a little over 14 hours remaining and the "race" extremely close, I should give a quick tutorial.

When I set up the poll, I had the option of allowing the voter to vote multiple times. But I opted not to do this, because I wanted the winner to be selected based on the consensus of the population, not how many times someone could hit "vote" and refresh in a 48-hour period. Frankly, I didn't think that would be a very fair advantage for someone who had a lot of time on their hands.

So now that the poll has been open for three full days, I figure it's a fine time to tell you how to vote. Because I'm good that way.

1) Click on the contestant that you want to have win.

2) Click "Vote"

3) You can then open up the results to see how everyone is doing - and - you have the option of changing your vote, if you so chose.

My apologies to anyone who needed this information sooner.

I hope this picture of my beautiful baby Henry before...

... and during his very first haircut offsets any inconvenience.

(Well, if you don't count the time my mother grabbed a pair of scissors and lopped his bangs off while we were in Massachusetts, this was his very first haircut.)

  2. People were emailing you to cast additional votes when it was obvious it was set up to only let you vote once a day? seriously?? Whoever they were voting for (themselves?) should be disqualified for annoying you.

  3. Oh poor Henry! He looks so serious about losing his precious locks. I swear every time you post a picture of that cutie I vow to have another baby in the next couple of years!

  4. Anon: The people that were asking me to cast an "additional" vote, would have been in addition to any vote I would have already cast. They weren't trying to gain more votes for a particular individual >> they just didn't understand how to vote and were asking if I could vote on their behalf. (i.e. my mom).

Their requests didn't annoy me at all. Now, if they were beeping their horn at me in the parking lot of Costco, that would be a different matter altogether...

  5. Hi Jenna,

This Marie in Santa Rosa - wow I just caught up on today's post. I really do not know how you do it. You are truely a superwoman and I admire you and your husband. Your children are very lucky to have the two of you.
I need to finish the vacation bloggs. Take care and you know that there is a special guardian angel out there for you. Take care. M

  7. So, I wasn't sure if you went back and read comments from previous posts, so I'll add my comment here about the potty...and I hope you are okay with yet another, "What worked for us" story. We have b/g twins. We made the cleanup after an accident VERY inconvenient for our kids. We knew it would take a lot of our time, too, but we were prepared for that. So we made sure we had nothing going on that we couldn't miss/leave. When they had an accident, we would do a thorough cleaning...shower, blow-dry the hair, clothes in the laundry, new clothes put on, etc. We made sure it took a prolonged amount of time to clean up after an accident, and made sure we talked about how much quicker it would have been for them to have used the potty and how much play time they were missing, blah blah blah. We never had to leave someplace, but were prepared to do so if we had to get cleaned up. After a few days, they got it.

  8. I think I did a better job cutting hair than the pro's. I have been cutting Jimbo's hair for two years and nobody laughs at him.
I have been lying awake thinking about Gracie--Have no fear, I will get it going for you when we come out.Have you thought about having her help you change Henry and telling her that this is what babies do? No catholic guilt here--My aunt who was a governess said she used glycerine suppositories to "encourage" toilet training. Where Gracie holds it for several days, this may be a suggestion. Poor kid--I feel for her.

  9. Jen what fun the first hair cut!!!!

I posted this below and just wanted to post it again here for you.

I want to say I am so honored to have been considered. It means so much to me that you think I am deserving of this. I know that there are some other moms out there who are just as desp. in need of a stroller for our family as some others. Thank you I am so honored. I know that whomever this stroller finds a home to is so well deserving of it.

  10. Yikes, I don't know why but for some reason I'm able to cast multiple votes. Is it different for everyone else? I didn't cast more than one, but just wanted to let you know that it seems to be possible for some people. I'm using internet explorer.
