cake decorating 101

My friend, Lorie, sent me this picture yesterday of a cake that was ordered from Wal-Mart for a going away party.

When the bakery clerk asked what they wanted on the cake, the customer indicated "Best Wishes Suzanne", underneath that, "We will miss you".

Aren't the flowers beautiful?

  6. Hi, Jen-

Love your blog! Have read your stuff since I was on the Resolve board. Which brings me to ask...have you heard from Sara in MD (Kinneret)? I have also followed her blog over the last two years since her son is a few weeks younger than mine, but as you know, she hasn't posted in nearly two months. I hope she is OK.

BTW, v.funny post today...going to email it to my best friend who has quite the love/hate relationship with WalMart.

Think they're related to the carpet cleaner who posted the other day?

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I won't be offended if you don't publish this comment!

  9. I never never never order a cake unless I've written out specifically what I want it to say in bold, clear handwriting. However, I would LOVE the mileage I could get from an awesome cake like this.

  10. Oh my, that's almost as good as the story my Grandma told years ago. She asked a new mother what she had named her baby girl. The response was that "the hospital had already named her Famolly". Spelled Female, on her bracelet.

In summary, a guy went to a tattoist in Thailand and wrote RIGHT ARM: Day Premiers 2006 with a logo. So what did the tattoist do? He wrote RIGHT ARM then put the logo and then Gay Premiers 2006.

  18. OMG! Our HR manager's daughter is the one who ordered that cake for someone at her office! She brought the pictures around to show everyone after the party and we couldn't believe it.

I live in Arkansas, and we all kept saying "ONLY in Arkansas could that mistake be made..."

    What a small world. :)

  19. I have an even better one. For my baby shower, my cake said "It's a girl! (three times)" Got to love the intelligent people at the Walmart bakery.

  32. Until I read the blurb under the picture, I spent quite a lot of time trying to figure out what the heck that cake was trying to say! LOL. At first I thought it was supposed to say "Understand that we will miss you", but I couldn't figure out how "understand" became "underneat".

    HILARIOUS!!!
