okay... rethinking this, as I see you are more costal. I vote northern CA to be with Charlie's family for the new year. I vote with Gracie to get the cat :)
What a fun trip. Is that the Golden Gate Bridge? Of course we see the Pacific Ocean. Can't tell about the tree. Is it a deciduous pine of some sort? Enjoy your vacation.
I figure you are 500 miles from home. The shore looks like northern California, however it looks a lot like the Oregon Coast line, also. The beaten up old building looks very like what we see here in the "wilds of Oregon". But I don't think you drove far enough to get to Oregon.
Another thought is that it could be a large lake--Salt Lake? Well, I'll wait and see what we learn.
over the bay bridge to S.F; past the SF opera house, Golden Gate bridge, Pacific Ocean, grapes growing in your yard, you're in Mendocino County..have fun...just in time for crab season.
You are in Sonoma County (near me). Not sure what kind of geologic formation that is, but I am guessing Goat's Rock Beach (had my engagement pix done there years ago) Have a GREAT TRIP! BTW Your kids would LOVE the new CA Academy of Science in SF.
