Today is my birthday. And although I haven't yet blown out the candles on my cake, my wish is going to be for a lot more days, just like today.
I'm healthy and happy and surrounded by my healthy and happy loved ones. The sun is shining brightly outside, the air is warm, the trees are covered with beautiful flowers and new growth. Today, we spent the day at George Washington's Mount Vernon. And tonight, Charlie is cooking up a wonderful dinner for our family and my sister Beth's family, who are visiting us from Massachusetts. We'll dine outside, beneath the stars and we're going to share 40 things for which we are grateful. After 40 years on this planet, I know ... it does not get any better than this.
This was "my" present. As the man drove it off the trailer, my husband beaming from ear to ear yelled out, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JENNY!"
If there was a title for "Luckiest Woman Alive!" I'd surely win.
And I truly mean it.
