the awesomeness knows no end

Despite all of the adjustment that we've been going through over the past few months, we really are enjoying living in Virginia. We are especially enjoying the seasons. We've had a warm summer, beautiful fall. And today, it snowed.

This isn't the first time it's snowed, but it's the first time that it stuck to the ground.

It started when I was sitting in a meeting and when someone happened to mention that the flurries had begun, I became so distracted I nearly lost focus of what we were doing. All I could think is, "WHY ARE WE SITTING IN HERE WHEN WE COULD BE OUT THERE, RUNNING AROUND AND PLAYING?! IT'S SNOWING! SNOWING! SNOWING!"

For the rest of the day, I could not wipe the smile off my face, no matter how hard I tried.

By the time I arrived home, the kids were having the absolute time of their lives running around the yard and making snow angels. I popped an extra Naprosyn, threw on my fleece pants, and ran out to join them.

For as much fun as the kids were having, Charlie was having even more fun.

He was pelting our small heavily dressed and extremely slow moving children with snowballs while laughing, "This is AWESOME! It's like shooting fish in a bowl!"

If he gets a lump of coal in his stocking, it should really come as no surprise.

  1. I've had snow for most of my life, and yet I still feel like you each time it snows - can't stop smiling, and I am so excited!

As a teacher, I really have to force myself not to shriek "It's SNOWING!!!" when I see it, because the kids go nutso when it snows. I guess you really do become the age of those you spend time with haha.

  2. Charlie's hilarious! Hopefully you don't get like a lot of us and start to despise the snow and cold weather!

  4. Jen,
I've been following you for a while and I always enjoyed reading about your adventures in California. What I didn't anticipate was how much I would enjoy reading about your acclimation to the east coast. Although we certainly have our issues on this coast (which you have documented), I have so enjoyed being reminded about all the amazing things there are about this part of the country. Having spent most of my life in Northern Virginia, sometimes I forget how much fun there is to be had right here at home. Thanks for the awesome reminder!
