date night with daddy

This past Saturday night, the girls had a date ... with their dad.

The annual Father-Daughter Dance is quite possibly, the biggest highlight of our daughters' year.  For as much as they loved skiing - they passed up an extra day on the slopes so that they would have ample time to prepare for their evening out with the #1 man in their life. Although I had bought them new dresses, the girls both opted to wear their satin white dresses from the Father-Daughter Dance last year.  And when we returned home Saturday afternoon, we immediately set forth getting ready.

We painted fingernails.

We curled hair.

We sipped sparkling cider in champagne flutes.

And we practiced dance moves.

When my chivalrous husband gently helped the girls in to their jackets, softly held their hands while they walked down icy steps, and held open the doors to the car for them, I imagined our lives years from now...

I imagined that our little boys will grow in to gentlemen who know how to treat women. And our little girls will grow in to gentle women that expect nothing less.

I LOVE that sentiment. If only all parents envisioned the same for their children.
