i need an intervention

By the time William is ready for school, one of two things will have happened:

1) I will finally learn how to cut hair.

2) I will finally learn my lesson and take my child to a professional.

Until someone stops me, or William objects, I'll continue to practice.

And be thankful that the Red Sox are having a good post-season.

  1. ooh, you should cut yourself some slack! charlie's hair looks great!

i just recently found your blog, and i just spent the last hour or so catching up on your stories of your pregnancy with the triplets, their birth, and their stay in the NICU. you write so incredibly well, and your story is riveting. i'm so, so, so glad that you all got through everything so well.

congratulations on your newest little guy! what a divine surprise.

i look forward to reading more about your amazing family!

  3. Oh, I think he looks pretty cute. Like you said, you just keep practicing. I cut my husband and now son's hair. I keep them fairly short, but it turns out pretty good. It gets easier every time.

  4. I think you are doing pretty well. Greg is finally taking my boys with him when he gets his hair cut. I'm not allowed to touch them anymore.

I'm trying your mother's chicken pot pie today. Except I couldn't make myself buy the cream of chicken soup. I tried. I went down the aisle. I picked it up. I looked at it. I read the label. I put it in the cart. I took it out. I. just. couldn't. do. it.

So I bought some cream and we'll see if I can improvise. I let you know how gross it is tomorrow!!!

  5. That chicken pot pie is AWESOME I have already made it twice and it was yummy!
As for the hair cut you have a good two more years, and if you are lucky maybe even six more years.
I really do not think it looks too bad.

  7. I think William's hair looks fine. Nice, short, cute.

I do all the hair cutting in this household. DH even has me cut his hair - he says its just as good as his barber - I don't know about that, but I'm faster (than driving there and waiting) and cheaper too, lol.

  8. I couldn't wait until tomorrow! It was SO GOOD! Everyone scarfed it down.

I used 4 oz of heavy whipping cream instead of the cream of chicken and it was FINE! I just added salt and a little extra broth!!!! I didn't have a can of vegetables but I steamed some baby carrots and added in some peas.

We'll be adding this one to our family favorites!!! YUMMY!!!

  9. your haircuts are perfect!!!!!! he's 3. he could care less what his hair looks like :)

besides, the haircutting professionals are out of their skulls for what they're charging to cut toddler's hair now a days.

i cut my sons hair all the time. until he's old enough to ask for edging up and all that fancy stuff, kitchen sink it is!!!!!!!!! :)

    great job momma!

  10. Hmmmmmmm.....maybe try NOT using the clippers and just using the scissors. I just use scissors and it seems like I am able to do less serious damage that way.

  12. I have enjoyed reading your blog, although I do have about a million other things I could be doing..M&M's ;) and laundry and/or updating my own blog just to name a couple. I have two daughters: McCanless, my three year old and Mary Clare, our 3 month old. Mary Clare was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome in utero. She had reconstructive open heart surgery at 5 days old and we spent over a month in the hospital.

As I read your blog, I sat crying and laughing and just remembering our difficult time in the hospital. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, stories and especially your beautiful children. Our story is at babypennington.com.

    So good to "meet" you!

  14. Looks better than when I did Isaac's. I take him to a professional now, and let me just tell you. The last one didn't do much better than I can do!

William is adorable--with or without a professional haircut!

  15. LOL! This made me laugh as I just massacred my son's hair today! I think you did a much better job than I did though!! ;-) I think I will be taking him to a proper hairdresser when he gets old enough to care but for now, it is kind of fun seeing how it turns out! HIs hair grows really quickly anyway so it is all good!!
