in my spare time

Last month, I mentioned that this past Spring, I walked in to a girls-BSA troop in my area for "informational gathering purposes" and walked out the new Scoutmaster.

Funny how that happened....

Overall, it's been a great experience watching the troop grow from 3 to 5 ... to 11.  The Blue and Gold Banquet (where Cub Scouts literally "bridge" to a Boy Scout troop) will be happening over the next few weeks, so we are anticipating our troop numbers are going to continue steadily climbing, as more girls join our scouting ranks.

(Why would they not? IT'S AWESOME!)

In between school - and four different sports - scouting has been keeping our entire family very busy positively engaged these days.  When we're not meeting to plan camping - or camping -  or meeting to discuss camping - it seems we are thinking about the Program and how we can make it fun and a value-add experience for everyone.

Elizabeth is currently the SPL (Senior Patrol Leader), and Carolyn is the Historian of the troop.  As the name would imply, the Historian's role is to record the troop's history, and seeing as this is the first girls BSA troop in the area (and world!), I've been helping her track some of the important history in a blog.   At least for now, I suspect that the troop blog will receive more attention than my personal blog - but the good news is that we're capturing memories.  And hopefully, it'll help get me in to a more consistent habit of writing again.
